The goal of orthodontic treatment at Dental Med Clinic is to restore the aesthetic appearance and proper function of the masticatory system. Orthodontic appliances can also improve an unfavourable facial profile and correct lip alignment. Thus, orthodontics affects not only the health of the teeth but also the patient's facial aesthetics.
According to current standards, there is no age barrier for starting orthodontic treatment. At Dental Med Clinic, we treat adults, children, and adolescents. However, we must be aware that treatment in children often progresses faster, and some defects can only be corrected with functional appliances, which may not provide the desired effect later in life. As a result, consultation for orthodontics is recommended even for young children to assess the potential defect and determine a corrective treatment plan.
In later stages of treatment, fixed braces are used, allowing for precise correction of tooth alignment. At Dental Med Clinic, we offer a wide selection of fixed orthodontic appliances to provide our patients with convenience and flexibility in choosing their treatment.
OUR OFFER INCLUDES:
- Metal braces: Classic metal braces that are durable and effective in correcting bite issues.
- Cosmetic braces: Discreet aesthetic braces made from transparent materials that are less visible when worn.
- Semi-aesthetic braces: Combining aesthetics and functionality, with aesthetic brackets in the front and metal ones in the back.
- Lingual braces: Lingual braces mounted on the inside of the teeth to remain invisible during daily use.
- Clear aligners: Some bite issues can be treated with active clear aligners. These need to be worn for 22 hours a day and removed only for meals. Treatment with aligners is an innovative approach to orthodontic treatment, allowing patients to achieve a beautiful smile without the need for traditional fixed braces.
The orthodontic treatment process consists of five stages:
- Orthodontic consultation: This is a key meeting with the orthodontist to assess the bite and tooth condition. During this phase, the orthodontist conducts a comprehensive examination of the oral cavity, discusses available treatment options, and answers any questions about the planned orthodontic treatment.
- Diagnostics: At this stage, we perform detailed scans of the teeth, facial and dental photographs, and analyse X-rays of both dental arches. These activities allow for precise measurements and calculations, forming the basis for planning an individualized and effective treatment plan to achieve the desired results in the shortest possible time.
- Treatment: During this phase, the patient begins treatment with an orthodontic appliance. From this point on, regular visits to the clinic are required according to the planned schedule for monitoring and activating the appliance, essential for the proper course and effectiveness of the treatment.
- Removal of the appliance: This is when the active phase of tooth movement is completed, and the appliances are removed, seamlessly transitioning into the retention phase.
Retention treatment: The final stage of orthodontic treatment focuses on maintaining the achieved results. Retention is individually tailored to each patient's needs, depending on the type of corrected defect, ensuring the stability of the treatment results and helping to prevent secondary tooth movements associated with dynamic changes in the oral cavity.
